The Chief of Kpone Traditional Area, Nii Tetteh Otu II, and his Traditional Council paid a courtesy call on the Ag. Chief Executive, Ing. Mark Baah. The visit was mainly to congratulate Ing. Baah on his appointment as the Acting CE. Additionally, the visit formed part of what the Traditional Council termed “periodic checks on entities within its jurisdiction.” On behalf of his Council of Elders, the Chief acknowledged GRIDCo’s support over the years, and expressed sincere appreciation to the Ag. CE and Management Team.

The leader of the delegation disclosed that, Nii Otu II has established a Foundation to build the capacity of the youth in his traditional area and, therefore, seeks GRIDCo’s support in funding it. He also touched on the possibility of employment opportunities for the youth in his community within Companies operating in the Kpone Traditional Area.

The Ag. CE commended the delegation for establishing the Foundation, describing it as a “Commendable idea. It is important to seek the welfare of the youth”, Ing. Baah added, urging them to submit a well-drafted proposal of the Foundation for consideration and support.

Other areas of concern for the delegation during the meeting were Safety Education for the residents of the community; GRIDCo’s participation in the Annual Industrial Fair organised by the KTC; and Technical Training, i.e., participating in GRIDCo’s attachment programmes. Ing. Baah prompted the team to also, “Think of the Girl-Child, when planning technical training for the youth.” He emphasised that girls too, must be given an equal opportunity to acquire technical skills.

On Safety Education, the Ag. CE spoke highly of GRIDCo’s Safety Culture, namely; the Safety Educational Programmes and the Annual Safety Month activities.

Ing. Bismark Anane, Director, Land Management Department, spoke on Right-of-Way (RoW) challenges and highlighted the possible ways GRIDCo and the KTC could collaborate to prevent encroachers from taking over GRIDCo’s RoW.

On behalf of the Management Team, Ing. Baah pledged GRIDCo’s support to the KTC, and wished Nii Tetteh Out II A fruitful reign with long life and God’s blessings.
