GRIDCo successfully hosted the Ghana–Côte D’Ivoire Interconnection Sub-Committee (TSC) meeting at its Head Office in Tema, marking the first gathering since the last session held in 2022 in Yamoussoukro.
Opening the meeting on behalf of the Ag. Chief Executive, Mr. Frank Otchere, Acting Deputy Chief Executive (Ag. DCE), warmly welcomed the Ivorian delegation. He drew on his experience as a former TSC member to emphasise the importance of sustained cooperation, particularly as new actors, such as Genser are now using the transmission corridor for cross-border power trade.
Mr. Stephen Debrah, Manager, System Control Centre (SCC), and Chairman of the Ghana team, noted the presence of a Genser delegation to provide clarifications on their role as a power supplier to Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. Cacou Domoa, representing the Chief Executives of CI-ENERGIES and Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Électricité (CIE), expressed gratitude to GRIDCo for the hospitality extended to the Ivorian team. He stressed on the vital function of the TSC in tackling operational issues and urged for more frequent meetings to ensure the reliability of the Interconnection.
The five-day meeting focused on key operational areas including, line availability; energy exchanges; analysis of the Automatic Frequency Load Shedding (AFLS); maintenance programmes for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA); communication infrastructure, and the sharing of system information between the two (2) countries.
The session brought together key stakeholders from CIE, CI-Energies, and the Volta River Authority (VRA) to assess operations along the interconnection and strengthen efforts in addressing shared system challenges.
