GRIDCo has donated items to the ‘Save Them Young Orphanage’ at Golf City, in Tema. This annual show of goodwill to the Orphanage is part of GRIDCo’s Corporate Social Responsibility’s (CSR) commitment, reflecting one of its core values – CARE.

The donation, valued at Twenty-one thousand, seven hundred and thirty-one Ghana Cedis (GHc21, 731.00) was presented on Thursday, 17th April 2025 and was funded by voluntary contributions from Management and Staff, from an offertory taken during the Annual Thanksgiving service of 2024 and 2025.

Upon arrival, the children of the Orphanage warmly welcomed the delegation with songs, led by their Supervisor, Madam Laurentia Otoo.

Delivering a message on behalf of the Ag. Director of Human Resources (HR), Mr. Ebo Effirim-Williams, Manager, Resourcing, Compensation and Analytics (RC&A), indicated that the purpose of the visit was to demonstrate GRIDCo’s commitment to supporting stakeholders in its Operational Area. The essential items donated were carefully selected, following consultation with the facility; to meet their specific needs. The items included:

• Ten (10) foam mattresses.

• Six (6) boxes of ceiling fans.

• Four (4) buckets of washing powder.

• Eight (8) plastic tables.

• Nine (9) packs of toilet rolls, and;

• Some diapers, bleach, assorted soft drinks, and biscuits for the children to celebrate Easter.

Acting. Director, HR, Mr. Dakora Zumasigee presented the items on behalf of Management and Staff while Madam Laurentia Otoo received the donation on behalf of the facility’s Director. Mr. Zumasigee noted, “This generous gesture reflects GRIDCo’s strong dedication to supporting the community and caring for those in need.”

Madam Otoo appealed for support in completing the facility’s ongoing six (6) classroom block project to enhance teaching and learning.

Others present during the donation included Managers and some Staff in the HR Department, and Corporate Communications Team.

The “Save Them Young Orphanage” was established in September 1996 by Rev. Dr. Colleen Amuaben. The orphanage currently has sixty-one (61) children, some of whom are autistic, with twelve (12) caretakers. The children we brought to the Home from the Ashaiman Social Welfare, Police Stations, and the Kpone Katamanso Social Welfare.
