A cross section of GRIDCo’s Management Team, led by the Ag. Chief Executive, Ing. Mark Baah visited the family of the late former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority, (VRA), Mr. Erasmus Kalitsi to condole with them.

Following the introductions, the head of family and spokesperson, Mr. Amedofu thanked GRIDCo for taking time to express their condolences.

Ag. CE, Ing. Mark Baah shared brief remarks about his experience with the late Mr. Kalitsi. Considered one of the most consequential Chief Executives of VRA, CE – Ing. Baah reflected on the depth of his knowledge “He was like a book with so much knowledge and experience”. He added, several GRIDCo Management members of a certain generation had either been recruited by him or worked with him prior to the separation of VRA and GRIDCo.

Mr. Amedofu, who is also the late Kalitis’s first cousin outlined instructions already set by the late Kalitsi for his funerals and how it will be executed. Mr. Amedofu stated, “He was a public servant and a statesman, who received a lot of national awards. He was not an engineer, but engineers gave him an honorary doctorate degree. So, one could just imagine who he was. Indeed! Ag. CE said it all”.

The Kalitsi family indicated that delegations from other energy sector utilities such as, the VRA, ECG and Bui Power had come over to pay their respects. Mr. Amedofu indicated that “It’s all to the glory of God, because the testimonies we have about him are just outstanding. One group called him a legend; some people called him an encyclopaedia”.

The family plans to inform the Presidency formally about Mr. Kalitsi’s passing as they prepare for the funeral on 17th July, 2025. They indicated that GRIDCo’s support will also be material to the success of the funeral events.

GRIDCo’s Director of Internal Audit (DIA), Mr. Richard Ntim delivered closing remarks as the condolence visit completed. He stated, “We know these are difficult moments. Organising a funeral for a man [of such magnitude] is difficult, but the most difficult aspect is the person who is no more with us. We want to encourage the family to give thanks to God because he knows better.”

DIA thanked the Kalitsi family for receiving GRIDCo and sharing details of the final rest of Mr. Kalitsi saying, “We will support you in prayer, especially that there should be no rain during the funeral period.”

Significantly, a few days later, the family of the late Mr. Erasmus Kalitsi paid a reciprocal visit to GRIDCo’s Management, during which they expressed gratitude to the Ag CE Ing. Baah for the concern shown them in their time of mourning. They took the opportunity to formally invite GRIDCo to participate in the final funeral celebrations.

Mr. Kalitsi was 95 years old.

May his soul rest in perfect peace!!!
