GRIDCo’s Acting Director of Human Resources (Ag. DHR), who also serves as the President of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), along with the GRIDCo Audit Team, led by the Internal Audit (IA) Director, Mr. Richard Ntim, participated in the 2025 IIA Annual Conference.
The IIA Ghana commenced its 2025 Annual Conference on Monday 14th April, 2025 at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra. The three-day event, which brought together IA Professionals from diverse sectors across the country, was themed, “Elevating Professionalism for National Development.”
Mr. Joseph Zumasigee officially opened the Conference with a welcome address, expressing appreciation to participants for their dedication to the IA profession, and commitment to continuous learning. “It is truly humbling to witness the enthusiasm of our members and stakeholders, as we gather to deliberate on emerging issues within our profession,” he stated.
Further, he said, “One sure way of elevating professionalism is through collaboration among different professional bodies. I stated in the inaugural address of the current IA Ghana Council, that we “Commit to replicating the global memoranda of understanding between the IA and some notable professional bodies, present in Ghana. We will explore further opportunities for working with other professional bodies within Ghana to strengthen the contributions of professionals toward national development”. Again, I stated at the 2024 Conference that, “No single set of professionals can tackle the complexities of the business environment by working in silos. Contextualising my point around this year’s conference theme, no professional body can single-handedly, yield the critical mass of professionalism required for our national development. The IA Ghana is of the view that a collective, deliberate and concerted effort on the parts of all or many professional bodies in Ghana is required to propel our national developmental,” he stated.
Mr. Zumasigee encouraged participants to actively engage during the break-out sessions to share experiences which would enrich the collective knowledge of the profession for national development. “Let this conference serve as a platform to exchange ideas, promote professional networks, and champion innovations that will advance the practice of IA,” he remarked.
GRIDCo, being a sponsor for the Conference, had the opportunity to deliver a brief presentation on its operations, highlighting GRIDCo’s Telecommunications Business, namely; Leasing of Dark Fibre to telecom and ISP Operators; provision of Aerial Fibre Optic Network, and the provision of Colocation Services. Mr. Samuel Kow Acquah, Acting Director, Corporate Strategy, delivered the presentation on behalf of Management.
