The Acting Chief Executive of GRIDCo, Ing. Mark Awuah Baah, featured as a panellist at the 2025 Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC), held from May 27–29, 2025 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. The Conference, themed “Innovate, Invest, Implement: Revolutionised Financing for Sustainable Energy Sector Growth in Africa,” served as a platform for energy innovation, investment, and policy dialogue across the continent.
Ing. Baah contributed to a breakout session titled “Scaling Up Renewables – Integrating Renewables into Existing African Systems,” where he joined a distinguished panel of energy leaders to explore how Africa can unlock its vast renewable energy potential through strategic innovation and policy reform.
Addressing the topic of investment-attracting policies, Ing. Baah emphasised the importance of creating a transparent and streamlined regulatory environment, backed by robust infrastructure planning and reliable data. “Attracting investment in Africa’s renewable energy sector requires a transparent and streamlined regulatory environment, robust infrastructure planning, and the provision of reliable data to ensure that we are fully prepared to absorb new investments and support long-term, sustainable growth” he noted.
His remarks reinforced GRIDCo’s commitment to building a resilient, future-ready Grid that supports Africa’s clean energy transition and sustainable development goals.
The session featured notable figures including Daere Akobo, Group Chairman of Pana Holdings; Ing. Seth Mahu, Renewables Director at MoEn> Erik Nygard, Founder and CEO of Kofa; Timothy Kudar Jarry II, Director at NOC Liberia; Mrs. Eunice Biritwum, Executive Secretary of the Ghana Energy Commission; and Mustapha Mohamed Benamara, Director at Sonatrach R&D Centre.
