The Acting Chief Executive, Ing. Mark Baah, accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive, Ing. Frank Otchere, and some Management Staff, connected with staff of the Kumasi Operational Area, while on a working visit to the Ashanti Region.

The delegation was warmly received at a staff durbar at the Kumasi Operational Area, which was moderated by the outgoing Director for the Northern Network Department (NND), Ing. Benjamin Ntsin and the acting Area Manager, Ing. Ferdinand Addai.

Ag. CE indicated that although the purpose for visiting Kumasi was to visit the team working on the damaged towers and transmission lines, the Management Team deemed it expedient to spend time to engage with staff of the Area. Three weeks prior to the team’s visit, GRIDCo hosted a delegation from the Energy Ministry at the Anwomaso substation; Office of the NND Directorate. However, due to the hectic nature of the programme at the time, they were unable to meet staff of the Area.

Ing. Baah indicated that due to leadership changes, the formal annual nationwide Operational Area visits, though delayed will soon take place. He took the opportunity to formally introduce Ing. Frank Otchere as the first [Acting] Deputy Chief Executive ([Ag.] DCE) of GRIDCo.

Discussions held with the Area Staff included the need for an improved work culture, to facilitate the Company’s progress. Ing. Baah commended the Kumasi Area Staff saying, “I have been impressed by the work of your colleagues, who are working hard to restore the line. Director, Ing. Ntsin, has also given good remarks about your work”. The Ag. CE urged long-serving staff to invest time in training new and younger staff to ensure that, the good work culture continues, adding “We have to deliberately instil discipline in our work culture, without fear so that, GRIDCo continues to do well as a Company.

Questions raised by staff during the session focused on a cross section of points, aimed at enhancing GRIDCo’s operations.
