In an evening of elegance and celebration, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), College of Engineering (CoE) hosted its inaugural Alumni Excellence Awards and Fundraising Dinner at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. The prestigious event was designed to honour Distinguished Alumni and Corporate Partners for outstanding leadership, significant professional achievements, and dedication to advancing engineering, while also raising funds for the College’s endowment fund.

At the glamorous event, Ing. Ebenezer Essienyi, Chief Executive of GRIDCo, was awarded the “Distinguished Alumni Chief Executive Officer” accolade. This prestigious award recognises his exceptional contributions to the engineering sector and his impactful leadership. GRIDCo was also acknowledged with the “Endowment Fund Contribution” award for its meaningful support towards the College of Engineering’s endowment initiative.

The fundraising initiative, with an ambitious target of 50 million Ghana Cedis (five 5 million US Dollars) over five years, seeks to enhance the quality of postgraduate programmes, expand access to these programmes, provide scholarships to attract outstanding postgraduate students and support financially disadvantaged undergraduate students, and improve infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning.
