The Accra Operational Area has hosted a send-off and pull-out ceremony to honor one of their own, Mr. Benjamin Amankwa Brefo, an Operating Attendant, for his two decades of dedicated service to VRA and GRIDCo.
Known affectionately as “Chairman Zelensky,” Mr. Amankwa also served as the Local Chairman of the Divisional Union for the Accra Area.
In his opening remarks, Ing. Benjamin Ahunu, the Area Manager, commended Mr. Amankwa for his solid dedication and commitment to GRIDCo. This was followed by a video message from Director of Southern Network Department (SND), Ing. Hussaini Adams, congratulating Mr. Amankwa for his exemplary service. The message encouraged staff to emulate Mr. Amankwa’s strong work ethic and wished him well in his retirement.
Divisional Union Chairman, Francis Adjartey, also attended the ceremony and paid a glowing tribute to Mr. Amankwa, highlighting his dedication and the support he provided during their time together in the Divisional Union and wished him a restful retirement.
Colleagues present took turns to share their fond memories of Mr. Amankwa and praised him for his remarkable service. Recounting their time working together, they all shared stories of Mr. Amankwa’s effort which shaped the Area into what it is today. Over the two-year period of his tenure as Local Union Chairman, Mr. Amakwa was highly praised by his colleagues for his leadership and the improvement of welfare issues in the Area.
Mr. Amankwa received parting gifts, and a citation from Area colleagues to show their appreciation and congratulate him on his retirement.
In his remarks, Mr Amankwa expressed his gratitude to God for the gift of good health bestowed on him, stating how he had never had to be hospitalised for any ailment.
